In my exploration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education, I’ve witnessed a significant increase in student interest in these technologies. To better understand this shift, I conducted both informal and formal surveys on how students are using AI. Through this process, I’ve come to see AI not as a substitute for learning, but as a valuable tool that can enhance the educational experience.
Recognizing the need for a structured approach, I developed a clear AI usage policy aimed at guiding students in the ethical use of these tools. My goal is to ensure that AI serves as support rather than a crutch in their learning journey. A key part of this policy is educating students about the limitations of AI. It’s crucial for them to understand that AI lacks human intelligence and critical thinking, skills that are vital as they navigate their studies.
I’ve also realized that how students formulate their queries significantly impacts the quality of AI-generated results. Teaching them effective query formulation is essential to maximizing the benefits of these technologies.
