On Wednesday, March 5th, 2025, The Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) hosted the Provost Academic Professional Track (APT) Faculty Teaching Excellence Awards Luncheon.
Established in 2019 with generous support from Marie M. and James H. Galloway Foundation, the Provost APT Faculty Teaching Excellence Award is currently funded by TAMU Faculty Affairs. Its purpose, “fostering, acknowledging, and commending faculty recipients for their outstanding teaching practices, which contribute significantly to the creation of meaningful and impactful learning experiences for students;” highlights the impact of effective pedagogy and the importance of student-centric learning methodologies.
The Luncheon commenced with an opening address delivered by Dr. Debra Fowler, Executive Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence. Her commitment to celebrating effective and innovative teaching practices within the Texas A&M community was key to the creation of the award.
Dr. Michael D. Johnson, Associate Provost for Academic Enhancement and Interim Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs, and guests. He eloquently acknowledged the remarkable achievements of addressed the 2025 Provost APT awardees and guests. He acknowledged the remarkable achievements of each recipient. Furthermore, Dr. Michael D. Johnson commended the Center for Teaching Excellence for its ongoing commitment to transforming higher education throgh its exemplary services.
Dr. Debra Fowler then proceeded to announce the Provost-APT Awards, expanding on the unique teaching methodologies and research goals of each distinguished awardee. Dr. Heather Wilkinson, Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs, joined Dr. Michael D. Johnson in presenting the awards and congratulating each recipient as photos were taken to commemorate the occasion.
