Wakonse Travel Award

Each spring, the Graduate Teaching Academy will make available three all-expenses-paidtravel awards to attend the annual Wakonse Conference on College Teaching in Stoney Lake, Michigan (valued at approximately $1000 each).  To be eligible for this travel award, all of the following requirements must be met: 

  • Individuals must be participating in either the GTA Certificate of Completion Program or the GTA Steering Committee during the semester they wish to apply;
  • Individuals must have completed ALL of the GTA Certificate of Completion requirements prior to the Wakonse Travel Award application deadline.
  • It is the 1st time for individuals to attend the conference.

To apply for the GTA Wakonse Travel Award, submit 1) a completed copy of the Wakonse Travel Award Application and 2) a copy of your personal philosophy of teaching statement to the Center for Teaching Excellence in room 533 Blocker Building.  For the Spring of 2008, the GTA Wakonse Travel award application deadline will be March 21st, 2008.  Applicants will be selected following review of their application, personal philosophy of teaching statement, and, if necessary, an interview.
