Free Demonstrations of Microsoft Office 2007 Applications
Office: The Center for Employee Education Date and Time: July 23rd and August 1st from 10:00-11:30am. Location: Both dates will be held in Assembly Room A of the General Services Complex, located at 750 Agronomy Road
Description: The Center for Employee Education is offering free demonstrations of the Microsoft Office 2007 applications. Come discover some of the new features and benefits of using Microsoft Office 2007. The demonstrations will include presentations over Word, Excel, Power Point, as well as Access. A question and answer session will also be included at the end of the demonstration presentation.
The presentations are available, free, to all university employees, however registration is required. Please visit our website for online registration and additional information.
Symposium on Inquiry/Research-based Education: "How We Learn Versus How We Think We Learn: Implications for the Design and Evaluation of Instruction"

Description: One of the greatest advantages of education at an institution like Texas A&M University is the opportunity for students to participate in the formation and application of knowledge as well to to acquire knowledge. Education that emphasizes inquiry-based approaches is the best preparation for diverse careers and for productive positions at all levels of society; hence, focusing on using these approaches enhances the learning of our students.
On September 11, 2007, the Quality Enhancement Plan Council will sponsor a symposium focusing on inquiry-research-based learning. The keynote speaker, Dr. Robert Bjork, is a Distiguished Professor and Chair of the Psychology Department at the University of California. In addition to Dr. Bjork's presentation, the symposium will also feature several Texas A&M University professors and students, who together will share their experience with inquiry/research-based education.
This symposium is aimed at showcasing local programs already using this instruction and illustrating how you might apply these concepts to your own classroom activities. If you are interested in learning more about inquiry/research-based instruction and how it can improve the learning outcomes of your students, please plan to attend.
