Jeff Froyd

Biographical Information

Dr. Jeff Froyd is the Director of Academic Development in the Dwight Look College of Engineering and the Project Director for the NSF Foundation Coalition, one of eight engineering education coalitions. He has emerged as a national leader in engineering education. While at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, he co-developed the Integrated First-Year Curriculum in Science, Engineering, and Mathematics, which received a 1997 Theodore M. Hesburgh Certificate of Excellence for faculty and curriculum development. This program has served as a model for numerous institutions across the country as an approach to improve the first-year experience. At Texas A&M University he is currently in charge of efforts to enhance faculty development in pedagogical skills, such as active and cooperative learning that have been demonstrated to increase the retention and interest of women and underrepresented minorities. He led the effort to initiate faculty learning communities at Texas A&M.
