Adalet Barış Günersel

Biographical Information

Adalet Barış Günersel, born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey, completed her Junior year at Walnut Hills High School, Cincinnati, OH with an AFS-Scholarship (American Field Service). After double-majoring in English and German at Oberlin College, she spent a year in Rio de Janeiro teaching English. She has studied in Munich, Germany, and has taught English in Germany and Turkey. Having been raised bilingual (Turkish and English), Baris is also fluent in German and Portuguese. Highly interested in creative writing, she has been an international correspondent for the national Turkish newspaper, "the Republic" ("Cumhuriyet") and her articles have been published since January 2003. The articles she wrote about Istanbul, as well as additional essays about personal experiences, comments, and general information about Rio and Brazil, have been gathered and published as a book. The book “A Year in Rio” has recently been published in Turkey. She is currently working on her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with a specialization in Intelligence, Creativity and Giftedness.
