When the redesigned curriculum has been approved at all levels (department, college, and university), the next step involves implementing the proposed changes. Ongoing assessment is important at this stage of the process to ensure that curriculum decisions are implemented effectively in courses. One method, peer review of teaching, offers an opportunity for faculty to collaborate and provide feedback to each other with the goals of enhancing student learning. Sustained collaborations centered on the topic of teaching also promote curricular integration, both horizontally and vertically. This integration encourages students to make connections among their courses and experiences, leading to deep and integrative learning.
This page includes resources for programs interested in developing a Peer Review of Teaching process. The Center for Teaching Excellence offers support in the development of a formalized process, including customized observation forms and workshops.
