CTE Staff Additions and Transitions

The Center for Teaching Excellence is pleased to announce two position changes and one new addition.

Samantha Shields, who began working part-time with the Center in 2016 as a Graduate
Assistant, recently transitioned into the role of Instructional Consultant. Ms. Shields
brings to the Center an extensive array of teaching and lecturing experience in the STEM
fields. As a Consultant, she is passionate about working with faculty to transform and
enhance their pedagogical paradigms with a vast array of evidence-based instructional
strategies designed to engage and motivate students.

Dr. Clint Patterson started with the Center in the fall of 2018 as a Postdoctoral Research
Associate and was recently promoted to Instructional Consultant. Dr. Patterson has a
long family history with Baylor University, his alma mater. Over his thirteen years in
Student Affairs at Baylor University, he led organizational change initiatives and taught
courses as an Adjunct Faculty. His experience with student learning and passion for
teaching form a unique foundation to his faculty development work. At the Center, Dr.
Patterson is focused on the future of higher education related to interdisciplinarity,
mentoring, and doctoral education.

The Center would like to welcome the newest addition, Postdoctoral Research Associate
Dr. MaryShannon Williams. Dr. Williams comes to our Aggie family after obtaining her
PhD at the University of Missouri – Columbia and brings a unique knowledge of data
visualization, cutting edge online teaching pedagogies, professional development, and
teaching experience in the K-12 environment. Dr. Williams will be researching and
implementing projects specific to transformational teaching and learning, instruction in
21st Century active learning spaces, and the re-design of gateway courses.
