20th Annual Teaching and Learning in Higher Education: Wakonse South Conference
to submit a proposal.
Proposal Due Date: Friday, October 14, 2016
The planning committee of the Wakonse South Conference on College Teaching invites you to engage, inform, and inspire your colleagues. Our goal is to create an energizing and supportive learning environment for college and university educators. With that in mind, when developing your proposal, please identify how you plan to actively involve participants in your session. Your proposed session may take one of many forms: panel, discussion, demonstration, or other imaginative format. Your session might address, but is not limited to, one or more of the following questions:
-How do you design tasks that foster intrinsic motivation?
-How do you help students connect what they are learning in your course with other courses?
-How do you design instruction/tasks that help first-year students develop as learners?
-How do you design your course to support individual paths to success?
-How can we apply engagement activities from other fields to support student learning (e.g. gaming, scaffolding, social interaction, self-directed learning, critical thinking, and creativity to engage users).
-What current topics, emerging trends, research findings, best practices, or specific initiatives regarding college teaching would you like to explore with colleagues?
