Teaching Assistant Certificate of Completion

In July 2013, Texas A&M University reaffirmed a mandate that oversees the process of training future TAs. To learn more about this mandate, visit The Office of Graduate and Professional Studies (OGAPS) website: New Teaching Assistant Training and Evaluation Program (TATEP)

To earn a Certificate of Completion from the Teaching Assistant Institute, each TA must perform the following:


Complete the TAI Online Preparation Course

  1. Access the course by clicking this link or copying and pasting it into your browser: https://apps7.system.tamus.edu/TrainTraq/web/External/ExternalGatewayLogon.aspx
    (NOTE: You cannot access this module via SSO/TrainTraq; ignore any message you might see to sign off and go to SSO.)

  2. Sign on using your TAMU email address and if it DOES NOT contain underscore or dash characters. If you do not have a TAMU email address or if your TAMU email address has underscore or dash characters, you may use a personal email which does not contain one or more underscore or dash characters. (Please ensure that the email that you enter is valid and accurate. Your will receive your online completion certificate at this email address, as well as instructions to follow to finalize your required training.)

  3. Search for and complete course 2111828 – Teaching Assistant Institute Preparation – CTE(NOTE: You are encouraged to complete this course before attending the face-to-face session; however, it must be completed no later than February 5th, 2018.) 

    The password for the preparation course is Gyro$eQual#24​ starting Jan 8th through Feb 5th.

 

Complete the TAI Face-to-Face Seminar

  1. Register at ERS.TAMU.EDU site and register for Monday or Saturday. 
     

Important Information and Dates

  1. Online Preparation course opens November 13th and closes February 5th. TAs must complete the course during this time period.

  2. The last opportunity for the face-to-face session is Saturday, January 27th.

  3. All components must be completed by February 5th - no exceptions. 

  4. TAs will receive their Certificates of Completion directly from the TA's department. 

  5. Keep an electronic copy of the completion verification that will be emailed to you after you successfully finish the course. You may also share it with your supervisor.

  7. ​As a reminder, TAs who have already received a Certificate of Completion for TAI do not need to complete training again. Departments can check the compliance status of a TA assigned to their unit on the TATEP Compliance System. 

 

TAI Calendar

If a TA cannot attend on the assigned day, he/she may attend any of the scheduled sessions. Pre-registration is recommended at ers.tamu.edu, even if TA attends on assigned day.

For main campus, registration begins at 7:30 with the first session starting at 8:00.
